I am a huge Dave Ramsey fan and I often hear him state this quote by Charlie Jones, “You are the same today as you’ll be in five years except for two things: the books you read and the people you meet.”
One of the ways I try to stay inspired in my work and life is by reading non-fiction books. I choose books that will help me grow personally, spiritually, and in my business.
Here are a list of my recent reads that I HIGHLY recommend!
1. Rework– Jason Fried & David Heinemeier Hansson
Rework provides a playbook for anyone who’s ever dreamed of running their own business. They share why you don’t need to waste time at meetings or on paperwork, why it’s better to ignore the competition, and how you don’t need to be a workaholic. Rework explains how to be more productive and the best and fastest ways to succeed in business.
2. Essentialism– Greg McKeown
Do you ever find yourself stretched too thin, having an overly packed schedule, or busy beyond belief? The way out of that lifestyle is choosing the way of the Essentialist. The concept of essentialism is all about choosing to do only the most essential and eliminating everything else. This way you are making the highest contribution toward what matters most.

3. Tribes– Seth Godin
This book describes how to create your own community or “tribe.” If you want to make a difference, have a passion, and a strong desire to lead, you’ll devour this book!
4. Waiting on God– Charles Stanley
This book is for anyone who has ever waited for answered prayer from God. Charles Stanley shows readers how these challenging trial and waiting periods are faith building challenges. He shows how God has specific and wonderful plans for our lives and often uses times of waiting to prepare us for the plans He has for us. If you’re looking to start a relationship with God or to grow your faith, I highly recommend this book!
5. Make it Happen– Lara Casey
Lara Casey is a powerhouse and someone I recommend following for inspiration for business, life, faith, and marriage. Her new book is all about surrendering your fears, taking the leap, and living on purpose. She shares her rocky past and how God transformed her life and she now strives to live not a perfect life but a purposeful one.

I also recently attended the Global Leadership Summit which provided many practical tips in growing leadership skills. After listening to several world renowned speakers and authors at the summit I’ve added the following books to my to-read list:
– Rookie Smarts– Liz Wiseman
– Creativity Inc.– Ed Catmull
– Live Love Lead– Brian Houston
