Traveling to Switzerland to photograph Maria and Claudio’s wedding was a dream come true! I’ve known Maria for over 10 years, ever since she studied abroad at my high school our senior year. We quickly became close friends and bonded over our love for ice cream, being teammates on the track team, and participating in Young Life. We’ve been great friends ever since and it was surreal to finally meet Claudio and witness how perfect they are together.
The way Claudio and Maria look at each other and interact is so unique and heartfelt. It’s instantly obvious how much these two adore one another.
The day after arriving in Switzerland, we got to experience their “Official Day” where they technically became husband and wife. Then a week later we got to photograph their big wedding celebration!
It was so fun witnessing how Swiss weddings compare to US weddings. A notable difference is how there are no bridal parties for Swiss weddings. Some aspects of the day were so enjoyable to experience like the “Apero,” which is an extended cocktail hour with SO much delicious food, music, and entertainment.
We savored all the mouthwatering food (my favorite was the chocolate fondue and ice cream dessert with fried bananas) and loved celebrating alongside Maria’s friends and family. Even though we didn’t speak any Swiss German, everyone was so welcoming, kind, and engaged us in meaningful conversation. We’ve never experienced such a high level of hospitality as we did during this trip.
Maria and Claudio’s day was a dream from start to finish. I’m in love with all their photos as it takes me right back to the excitement and memorable moments from their day! Enjoy lots of my favorites!
Congratulations to two of the most deserving people on the planet, I love you both!
