Thanks for joining me in this PowerSheets blog series! If you missed Part 1 or Part 2, you can catch up on those!
In this post, I’ll be sharing my 2019 goals and how I’ll be taking action on them!
This year I knew I wanted to build on the progress I made in 2018. My word of the year from 2018 was nourish and I knew I wanted to continue focusing on that as well as work on new things!
My word for 2019 is unhindered. It was inspired by the verses in Hebrews 12:1-2:
Letting go. That’s what I want to do this year! Letting go of all that’s hindering me- bad habits, distractions, comparison, sin, fear, worry, etc. Of course, this will be a lifelong pursuit but I know through intentional focus I can make progress on this little by little.
Here are my four goals for 2019:
Below I’m breaking down each goal and sharing why I chose each one and how I plan to take action.
READ THROUGH THE WHOLE BIBLE IN A YEAR
This had been on my mind throughout 2018 and I knew I wanted to grow in my faith and learn more about God. I knew a key way to learn more about God is through reading His Word.
I have tried multiple times and failed at reading through the Bible so at first this goal felt very daunting. I didn’t want to set myself up for failure.
When I started this goal I wasn’t succeeding because I didn’t have a routine in place. Dustin suggested I read two chapters in the morning and two at night. That did the trick and now I have a routine in place! I’m currently in 1st Samuel and loving learning so much of the Bible I’ve never read before!
GO OUTSIDE COMFORT ZONE IN BUSINESS!
Fear has always had a looming presence in my life. It’s kept me from being bold and taking risks often because I’m scared of what others will think of me. I want my aim this year to be focusing on pleasing God, not people. I want to prayerfully take risks and go outside my comfort zone.
So far in my business in 2019 this has looked like experimenting with new types of marketing. I also plan to create a mission statement for my social media usage so I’m utilizing each platform with purpose.
THROW OFF ALL THAT HINDERS!
This is important to me to throw off worry, fear, sin, limiting beliefs, comparison, seeking approval from others instead of God, and distractions. These things hinder me from running the race God has marked out for me and draw me away from Him. They prevent me from taking action on what matters most.
One way I’m practically tackling this is to plan out each of my workdays in detail. This helps me to not get lost in distractions. Another way I’m trying to weed out distraction is by moderating my email checking so I’m not addictively checking my inbox.
CONTINUE TO NOURISH MY MIND, BODY, AND SPIRIT
I’m continuing this goal from 2018 because it’s important to both me and God. What I fill my mind, body, and heart with directly impacts how I love God and serve Him and others. I’ll be able to more effectively live out my purpose and run my race well when I’m filling my mind and heart with positive inputs.
Practically this looks like me choosing to read books instead of grabbing my phone, spending time in prayer and in the Word, exercising consistently, etc.
I hope you’re encouraged to see the power of intentional goal-setting and that achieving goals is actually possible through making little by little progress. While I’m absolutely not perfect at this, that’s okay! I know little by little progress over time adds up!
You may already have an idea of some goals you’d like to accomplish but think it’s too hard or impossible. Let me assure you, the impossible is possible! The PowerSheets are a great tool that can help you break down those big or small goals into bite size action items that are doable! Before you know it, you’ll be making progress on your goals and developing new healthy habits!
I’d love to hear from you- Have you tried the PowerSheets or hope to? What dreams, goals, and habits do you want to cultivate in your life? Thanks for sharing and can’t wait to set and achieve goals alongside you this year!
