Not only is Erin brilliant but she’s also super athletic, compassionate, and so knowledgable about style, fashion, beauty, and so much more! Today on the blog, Erin will be sharing her top tips for choosing the best outfits for your engagement session! I would highly recommend following Erin on Instagram and her blog to keep up with her latest style insights!

Wearing the right clothing is important in making your engagement photos turn out the way you’ve always imagined. You want to take into consideration style, cohesiveness, and most of all, comfort. In order for you and your fiance to represent yourselves accurately in photographs, you want to be very comfortable in whatever you choose to wear! I’ve written down a few key tips that will help you get the most out of your engagement session, and create lasting photos you will treasure.
1. Choose comfort: Probably the most important factor in making yourself comfortable is wearing comfortable shoes. You never know where your photographer might take you in order to get the best pictures, so be prepared to walk in different terrains. This way you can go wherever you want to to get the absolute best shots. Stacey had us go into a wooded area, and those pictures turned out to be my favorites!
2. Choose cohesive colors: You don’t want to dress like twins, but it is important that you and your fiance wear colors that go well together. You can do this by choosing different shades of one color, or by pairing different colors which compliment each other (like purple and gray). Most importantly, envision your color selections and make sure they compose a pleasing palette! If you plan to incorporate a bright color, choose only one or two to ensure that the colors don’t overwhelm each other.
3. Choose pieces you love: Selecting clothes you truly love is crucial. If you are half-hearted about any of your pieces, you might end up feeling the same way about your pictures. Make sure you love what you are wearing head-to-toe, you deserve it!
4. Choose minimalism: Wear only minimal accessories. Too many objects will detract from the focus of the pictures, you and your fiance! Choose delicate pieces rather than statement jewelry, like I did with my charm bracelet. Plus, you don’t want anything distracting from your gorgeous ring!
5. Choose a jacket: Taking a cute jacket along with you to the shoot serves two purposes. If it is cool outside, you can wear it between photos to stay warm and comfortable. You can also wear it along with your outfit to bring another look into the photos, as I’ve done here with this amazing J.Crew jacket.
6. Choose timeless pieces: You want to enjoy these pictures forever, and in order to do so, you must select classic pieces. Make sure not to wear anything that is a current trend, but will look outdated in a year. Keep your individual style in mind, but choose pieces that will stand the test of time.
